This idea seemed like a good one at the time but as of today and $45 worth of photo litho plates later, I have decided I dislike it IMMENSELY! I hate drawing drappery! Didn’t like it in figure drawing so what made me think I’d like better in a lithography project I know not. BAD IDEA! An experienced artist like my litho instructor won’t let my quickly rendered drappery fly and everytime I hear, “Make more realistic folds” I want to straggle a kitten! We were supposed to compose a drawing in a similar sytle to Christo and Jean-Claude‘s priliminary project illustrations. I was looking at their Wrapped Reichstag as my major source of inspiration and thought, “Hey, I’ll wrap up Mary and Jesus!”

I think the statue is gorgeous and studying it in art history really made me appreciate the time and skill that went into this statue. HOWEVER, I didn’t think about the complications of possibly wrapping them up in cloth when deep down I hate drawing cloth. Never again. Blarg! This print better be super leet. For serious. If not I swear I’ll bash my head in with the levigator.
